Dissipative quantum vortices and superradiant scattering

چکیده
Inspired by Analogue Gravity, superradiance has been previously investigated in Bose-Einstein condensates (BECs). In this work, we revisit problem introducing dissipation to the system. After establishing possibility of quantum vortices dissipative BECs, analyze propagation elementary excitations, and demonstrate existence superradiant modes, which can be interpreted terms ``antiparticles.'' Our findings support scattering around vortices, they pave way for future experimental realization phenomenon.

Superradiant Quantum Heat Engine
Quantum physics revolutionized classical disciplines of mechanics, statistical physics, and electrodynamics. One branch of scientific knowledge however seems untouched: thermodynamics. Major motivation behind thermodynamics is to develop efficient heat engines. Technology has a trend to miniaturize engines, reaching to quantum regimes. Development of quantum heat engines (QHEs) requires emergin...
متن کاملRole of quantum vortices in atomic scattering from single adsorbates
Adsorbates or other defects greatly affect the physics and chemistry of surfaces. They cause, for example, scattering intensity peaks in between Bragg angles, giving rise to diffusive scattering. This phenomenon is characterized by an incoherence among particles scattered from different defects, and is well illustrated by He scattering from CO molecules adsorbed on the Pt~111! surface, for whic...
متن کاملThe Semiclassical and Quantum Regimes of Superradiant Light Scattering from a Bose-Einstein Condensate
We show that many features of the recent experiments of Schneble et al. [D. Schneble, Y. Torii, M. Boyd, E.W. Streed, D.E. Pritchard and W. Ketterle, Science 300, 475 (2003)], which demonstrate two different regimes of light scattering by a Bose-Einstein condensate, can be described using a one-dimensional mean-field quantum CARL model, where optical amplification occurs simultaneously with the...
متن کاملDissipative Transport in Quantum Hall Ferromagnets by Spinwave Scattering
We report on a study of the effect upon electrical transport of spinwave scattering from charged quasiparticles in ν = 1 quantum Hall ferromagnets (QHFs), including both Heisenberg (single layer) and easy-plane (bilayer) cases. We derive a quantum Langevin equation to describe the resulting diffusive motion of the charged particle and use this to calculate the contribution to low temperature co...
متن کاملStochastic resonance driven by quantum shot noise in superradiant Raman scattering
We discuss the effects of noise on the timing and strength of superradiant Raman scattering from a small dense sample of atoms. We demonstrate a genuine quantum stochastic resonance effect, where the atomic response is largest for an appropriate quantum noise level. The peak scattering intensity per atom assumes its maximum for a specific non-zero value of quantum noise given by the square root...
